What does The Welcome Centre do? The Welcome Centre offers practical help for individuals and families in crisis. We provide food packs, toiletries, home-starter packs, bedding, towels and clothing for anyone in immediate need. We are always short of - tinned meats, cereal, dried potatoes, long life milk, meat paste, jam, biscuits, baked beans, cup-a-soup, shampoo, toothpaste, toilet rolls, shower gel. Who do we help and how do they contact us? We help anyone in crisis for example people who are homeless, fleeing violence, have mental or physical health problems, drugs and alcohol issues, refugee and asylum seekers, families struggling with debt and young vulnerable people. Anyone who needs our Service require a referral from one of the many recognised agencies we work in partnership with in Huddersfield, initially be telephone with a follow up referral form.The Project’s Aims and Objectives? We aim to provide an effective and inclusive service that is relevant to the needs of our service users. We supplement rather than replace statutory provision and we rely on the support of the local community and most of our items are kindly donated by local churches, schools, groups and individuals. We also rely on a team of regular volunteers in the store and office who give us their support every week and offer supported volunteering positions to anyone looking at a step up into work.We are open to the public - Monday to Thursday from 1.00 pm. until 4.00 pm. and Friday 1.00 pm. to 3.30 pm.
