Our Mission’s Purpose The purpose of the Methodist Church is to respond to the good news of God’s inclusive and sacrificial love seen in the life, teaching, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We live out our purpose in terms of our worship, mission and discipleship. Our Mission Values Huddersfield Methodist Mission is a registered charity. We offer a variety of services to  support to the people of Huddersfield and District, especially the most vulnerable, in the current economic climate. We act as an advocate for those unable to speak for themselves.  We signpost some people to alternative agencies. We are motivated by - inclusive love and a bias towards the poor and needy. Our Organisation The local church is a community of disciples, who with all their limitations and flaws, with God’s help, express in a practical way the love of God in Christ. Huddersfield Methodist Mission a local church focussed on the needs of the poor, the vulnerable and the powerless.  We help those on the edges of local life who are in need of some help and support in order to get through the difficult times they are experiencing Local churches are gathered into a group called a Circuit. The basic unit of Methodism is the Circuit, which is a network of churches working as a team. Huddersfield Methodist Mission is part of the Huddersfield Pennine Circuit, which is made up churches in Crosland Hill, Gledholt, Golcar, Lindley, Linthwaite, Marsden, Mount, Netherton, Newsome, Outlane, Paddock, Parkwood and Slaithwaite. Our neighbouring Circuit is Huddersfield East which is composed of churches in Almondbury, Bradley, Cowcliffe, Dalton, Fartown, Kirkheaton, Lepton and Shelley.  On 1st September 2011 these two circuits will combine to form a new Huddersfield Circuit with 22 churches working together. Nineteen Circuits form the West Yorkshire Methodist District.  It covers Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Craven and Dales geographical areas.  (click here for the West Yorkshire District website). (click here for the Connexional website of The Methodist Church) Our Governance A Circuit is governed by a Circuit Meeting, which meets twice a year and is chaired by the senior officer - the Superintendent Minister.  A District is governed by a Synod, meeting twice a year chaired by the senior officer - The Chair of District.  The Connexion is governed by an Annual Conference which moves from town to town chaired by the President of Conference, which is an annual appointment.
